Analytical Chemistry

Lonestar offers the most advanced and unique Environmental Sampling and Chemical Analysis services in the Middle East/Gulf region.

Lonestar utilizes an array of advanced instruments like Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometers with Graphite Furnace, Inductively Coupled Plasma Spectrometer (ICP) and ICP-MS, Gas Chromatographs with various detectors (FID, PID, Dual-ECD). Numerous gas chromatograph and several GC Mass spectrometers are utilized at Lonestar on a daily basis. In addition, Lonestar also utilizes Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FT-IR) for various determinations. Lonestar provides its clients with sophisticated analysis to meet the demanding requirements of environmental analysis.

Tests are conducted at Lonestar in accordance with the latest US EPA, NIOSH, MASA, APHA, HSE, BS, ASTM and NACE analytical methods.

Chemical Composition of Metals & Alloys

Analysis of carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex steel, nickel based alloys and other alloys – these Metals and Alloys are analyzed at Lonestar using an Optical Emission Spectrometer (OES). Carbon and Sulfur are analyzed using the ELTRA/LECO. Low levels of alloying elements in steel are analyzed either on the AAS/ICP/ICP-MS. The following elements are routinely analyzed on steel samples:

Corrosion and Scale Inhibitors

In the past numerous years, Lonestar has analyzed extremely diverse scale and corrosion products from oil and gas fields. The methodologies utilized are either standards NACE recommended or complex analytical techniques that were developed over numerous years by our staff at local and international facilities.

Ion Chromatography

Analysis of anions in Drinking water, Groundwater, Surface water & Seawater is conducted using an Ion Chromatograph. The level of Detection is at Parts Per Billion (ppb) for the following components:

Chloride Phosphate

Total Organic Carbon Analysis (TOC)

Analysis of Organic Carbon in Drinking water, Seawater, Ground water and Surface water is conducted using a TOC analyzer capable of analyzing Total Organic Carbon, Dissolved Organic Carbon and Purgeable Organic Carbon

Total Organic Halogens (TOX)

Analysis of Total Organic Halides in Drinking water, Seawater, Groundwater, Surface water and Soil.

Level of Detection is Parts Per Million (ppm).
